What's in the Wardrobe of a Pregnant Momma?

The arrival of a new baby is always something to look forward to. It's one of the best news a woman could ever receive in her entire life. Moms, especially first time ones, are full of excitement and great expectations for the bundle of joy who will be joining the family.  Just the sight of a new baby can make a pregnant mommy dreamy-eyed. Aside from the positive emotions, being an expectant mom comes with other concerns like choosing the right hospital, picking the perfect OB, shopping for high-quality and most recommended stuff for the baby.  The list goes on.

Soon-to-be mothers need to shop for their stuff, too. There are maternity wear and post-natal wear to think about. Comfort and safety should be the top consideration when choosing a maternity wear.

You really don't need to spend much on maternity wear. There is a lot of good but affordable brands especially local ones.  One of them is Mome. I love their Maternity + Nursing line. I like buying things that are worth the price and I can say that you get your money's worth with this clothing line because of the quality. Their nursing blouses go as low as 200 pesos. Check out their new designs, too! Everything in the new collection looks so stylish, you would not even think they are maternity wear.

Look at this Opal dress. For P1250, it is already a maternity and nursing wear in one. What a steal, don't you think? Each dress is A-OK.

If you don't have the budget for new clothes, you could always find some things in your closet that are still wearable despite your growing belly. Now that I am pregnant, I use my dresses as tops, and just wear leggings with them.  You may also consider wearing your button-down blouses and dresses as long there is more than enough room for your belly.

During my first pregnancy, my cousin who was also pregnant but ahead of me by four months, lent me her maternity clothes. Maxi dresses especially the tube ones were some staples in my closet because they are garterized and have flowy fabric.

Another items that pregnant moms should buy are nursing bras and maternity bras.  Inay Moments, an online shop for maternity and post-natal wear offers these items at affordable prices.

Pregnant moms on their second and third trimester may want to consider wearing maternity belts.  You may want to consult with your OB first just to make sure that you can wear one.  As for my experience, it helped lessen my discomfort and lower back pain.

This belt is made of soft material and adjustable to the mom’s growing tummy.  It has Velcro snaps on both sides.

Kudos to the mompreneurs like the ones behind Mome and Inay Moments for catering to the needs of Filipino mothers.
