Mompreneur Meet Up: Start Up Mompreneurship by Mommy Mundo

I learned a lot from Mommy Mundo's Mompreneur Meetup held last February 25 at Aracama, BGC.  That morning, the room was full of mompreneur hopefuls and mompreneurs-to-be.  The vibe was definitely inspiring!  As Ms. Janice Villanueva, founder of Mommy Mundo, narrated her mompreneur journey and how Mommy Mundo started, I could not help but be in awe of how she and her team have come this far (they are now on their 10th year).

I want to share the lessons imparted by Ms. Janice.

1.  Happy wives mean happy families.

I'm sure you are all familiar with the phrase "Happy wife, happy life."  This is basically it.  It means that we mother should prioritize our happiness so we can also spread joy and positivity to our family and to people around us.

2.  Moms are problem solvers.

A lot of smart products have been invented by moms as we mothers always want to fix problems, whether big or small.  So for us aspiring mompreneurs, perhaps we can start by finding solutions to our basic concerns, issues and pain points.

3.  We are octomommies.

Being a great multi-tasker is already a head start for us moms, we can juggle everything.  We are able to take care of our families and wear different hats.  In times of doubt and weakness, we must remember that we have this special skill that can arm us towards fulfilling our mompreneur dreams.

4.  We are natural marketers.

It is so easy for us moms to vouch for something that we believe in.  We even take the time to write a review for a product that made us happy, and we do this without any compensation.  We are so good in marketing!  And we can use it to our advantage.  Especially when it is something that we strongly believe in, which brings us to number 5...

5.   We have to follow our passion.

Even if we have all the skills that make up a good entrepreneur, it won't be enough to sustain us in our mompreneur journey.  Passion is what keeps our drive alive.  Yes, we moms may be natural marketers, but how can we be the best marketer of our business when we ourselves are not burning with passion for it.  Let us take the time to assess our skills, talents, and the things that make us happy.  What are the things that we would gladly do without getting a cent for it?  What motivates us?

Aside from lessons learned, we moms went home with some important questions to ask ourselves.  And these questions we must answer as we begin to embark on our mompreneur journeys.  Thank you so much Mommy Mundo for a morning of enlightenment, and for events like this that never fail to inspire us.  Mompowerment indeed!
